Finance Analysis for Hopkins District 270 Released
Former state legislator and education finance committee member Ken Wolf, who served in the state legislature from 1995-2002 and is widely regarded as a leading expert on education finance, published an analysis of the revenue sources for the Hopkins School District covering a period of 20 years, 2003-2023. While school administrators, board members and teacher's union officials support a narrative that "school funding has not kept pace with inflation", the findings of Mr. Wolf prove otherwise. Combined Revenue (all funding from both state aid and local levies) exceeded inflation by 48.85% over the past 10 years (2013-23). During that time, per-pupil funding increased from $11,491 to $17,105, amongst the highest in the state.

Department of Education Releases 2023 Report Card
The Minnesota Department of Education released the 2023 "Minnesota Report Card" which measures student proficiency for Math, Reading and Science. The results for the Hopkins School District (270) and Hopkins High School revealed disappointing results and a continuation of a troubling, downward trend in academic proficiency amongst their students. Interestingly, current members of the Hopkins School Board have publicly stated that MCA testing is not an accurate reflection of student academic performance.
